Έκκληση: «Να απελευθερωθεί ο καθηγητής Όσκαρ-Ρενέ Βάργκας. Να διασφαλιστεί η σωματική του ακεραιότητα και τα δικαιώματά του»

Ο Όσκαρ-Ρενέ Βάργκας, ένας 77χρονος πολίτης της Νικαράγουα, είναι οικονομολόγος, ιστορικός και αναλυτής της επικαιρότητας στην Κεντρική Αμερική, του οποίου η ποιότητα χαίρει αναγνώρισης στους ακαδημαϊκούς κύκλους και ιδιαίτερα μεταξύ όσων υπερασπίζονται συστηματικά τα κοινωνικά και δημοκρατικά δικαιώματα του λαού της Νικαράγουα απέναντι σε διάφορα αυταρχικά καθεστωτικά.

Όμως πλη­ρο­φο­ρη­θή­κα­με για την «αρ­πα­γή» του –ντε φάκτο σύλ­λη­ψη και φυ­λά­κι­ση– από την αστυ­νο­μία του κα­θε­στώ­τος του Προ­έ­δρου Ντα­νιέλ Ορ­τέ­γκα την Τρίτη 22 Νο­έμ­βρη 2022. Αυτή η πράξη αυ­θαι­ρε­σί­ας μας σο­κά­ρει βαθιά, ιδιαί­τε­ρα καθώς έρ­χε­ται σε συ­νέ­χεια μιας σει­ράς συλ­λή­ψε­ων αν­θρώ­πων επι­κρι­τι­κών –από διά­φο­ρες σκο­πιές– απέ­να­ντι στο ση­με­ρι­νό κα­θε­στώς στη Νι­κα­ρά­γουα.

Ο Όσκαρ-Ρε­νέ Βάρ­γκας είναι φη­μι­σμέ­νος για τα πο­λυά­ριθ­μα ιστο­ρι­κά του έργα –πάνω από 35 ερ­γα­σί­ες– για τη Νι­κα­ρά­γουα, όπως και για την αφο­σί­ω­σή του από τα μέσα της δε­κα­ε­τί­ας του ’60 στον αγώνα ενά­ντια στη δι­κτα­το­ρία του Σο­μό­ζα, την υπο­στή­ρι­ξή του στην πρώτη δια­κυ­βέρ­νη­ση από το FSLN [Σα­ντι­νί­στας] και την στή­ρι­ξή του στο λαϊκό κί­νη­μα δια­μαρ­τυ­ρί­ας που ανα­δύ­θη­κε το 2018. Η δέ­σμευ­σή του στις υπο­θέ­σεις που ανα­φέρ­θη­καν αντι­κα­το­πτρί­ζουν την πο­λι­τι­κή ευ­θύ­τη­τα του Όσκαρ-Ρε­νέ Βάρ­γκας, την προ­σή­λω­σή του στα δη­μο­κρα­τι­κά δι­καιώ­μα­τα και ως εκ τού­του στην ελευ­θε­ρία έκ­φρα­σης και ορ­γά­νω­σης.

Ζη­τά­με από τις Αρχές της Νι­κα­ρά­γουα να σε­βα­στούν πλή­ρως τη σω­μα­τι­κή ακε­ραιό­τη­τα του Όσκαρ-Ρε­νέ Βάρ­γκας, όλα τα δι­καιώ­μα­τά του να υπε­ρα­σπι­στεί τον εαυτό του και να τον απε­λευ­θε­ρώ­σουν άμεσα. Οποια­δή­πο­τε πι­θα­νή μελ­λο­ντι­κή ποι­νι­κή δια­δι­κα­σία οφεί­λει να σέ­βε­ται πλή­ρως τα αν­θρώ­πι­να δι­καιώ­μα­τα και τα διε­θνή νο­μι­κά πρό­τυ­πα.

Το αί­τη­μα αυτό είναι σε συμ­φω­νία με το Κα­τα­στα­τι­κό για τα δι­καιώ­μα­τα και τις εγ­γυ­ή­σεις των Νι­κα­ρα­γουα­νών, που είχε υιο­θε­τη­θεί από το Κυ­βερ­νη­τι­κό Συμ­βού­λιο Εθνι­κής Ανοι­κο­δό­μη­σης της Δη­μο­κρα­τί­ας της Νι­κα­ρά­γουα στις 21 Αυ­γού­στου του 1979, και με την κρίση της Διε­θνής Επι­τρο­πής Νο­μι­κών (ICJ) το 1980, η οποία χαι­ρέ­τι­ζε τότε «τις αν­θρω­πι­στι­κές ανη­συ­χί­ες της [νέας] κυ­βέρ­νη­σης» (σελ. 6).

Η υπο­στή­ρι­ξή μας σε αυτή την έκ­κλη­ση προς τις ση­με­ρι­νές Αρχές της Νι­κα­ρά­γουα απη­χεί τις αρχές και τις αξίες που ο Όσκαρ-Ρε­νέ Βάρ­γκας υπε­ρα­σπι­ζό­ταν τότε και συ­νε­χί­ζει να υπο­στη­ρί­ζει σή­με­ρα.
